The water tower at Bakersfield High School has been standing in central Bakersfield for more than 83 years, but the structure will have a new home in the near future.
On Monday, crews will begin work on a project that will eventually relocate the water tower to the Kern County Museum.
The tower, which was built to increase water pressure on campus, currently lays directly in the path of the proposed all-weather track and football field.
There's no definite timeline for when the tower will arrive at the museum; however, officials say that it will sit in the museum's northwest corner near the clock tower.
