UPDATE (October 20, 2017 11:28 a.m.): This morning, around 7:30 a.m. Bakersfield Police were involved in a short pursuit of a car that was reported stolen however tha pursuit ended and minutes later police found that car with the suspect inside near Chico Street and Owens Street.
Around that same time a kid reported seeing someone go into Bessie Owens Intermediate School with a gun and as a precaution the school was placed under lockdown.
It was later determined that no subject entered the school with a firearm and the school was taken off of lockdown.

UPDATE (8:29 a.m.): The lock down at Bessie Owens Intermediate has been lifted.

Bessie Owens Intermediate School is currently on lock down.
Bakersfield Police officers are in the area. It's not known why the school is on lock down.
