BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Bakersfield College is asking graduate and guests to consider other transportation options for this year's commencement in hopes of avoiding parking congestion.

According to a news release, the college says they are expecting over 2,600 graduates and an estimated 6,000 guests at the Rabobank Arena for their 105th graduation ceremony.

To avoid parking congestion, school officials are recommending that attendees with friends and family either carpool or use ride-share services, such as Uber or Lyft.

If rideshare or carpooling aren't options for you, BC has provided the following scenarios for street parking:

  • Two parking lots are located on N. Street, south of Truxtun Ave past Rabobank Arena. Upon passing the railroad tracks, the first lot is located on the right and the second is located on the left. Event parking in these lots is $10 per vehicle (see pink shaded area in the parking guide below).
  • A tiered parking structure is also located on N. Street, south of Truxtun Ave. Event parking in this structure is $10 per vehicle (see green shaded area in the parking guide below).

Bakersfield College will celebrate the 105th Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 10, 2019 at 7:00PM at Rabobank Arena.
