BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to the Bakersfield Police Department, around 5 p.m. BPD stopped a vehicle that committed a violation, one person exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Within seconds of the pursuit, a gunshot was heard.
The suspect was found dead due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It is unclear if the wound was intentional or accidental.
The suspect is described as an adult male, the other suspect in the car was detained.
The investigation is ongoing.
