BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — It has been exactly one year since the Bakersfield Police Department started using Shot Spotter technology to help with locating and responding to shootings in the area.

BPD released a video on Facebook today saying that the technology has been a success so far, but they still need help from the community from time to time.

BPD also said that since last year, there have been 457 shot spotter activation's and 27 firearms seized. The Department said they have seen a decrease in the number of victims from shootings since they began using the technology.
