BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — For one Bakersfield family, the Saddleridge Fire outside of Los Angeles posed a threat much closer to home. Their young son needed surgery at an LA hospital and with traffic backed up getting there was a concern.
Fortunately, a Los Angeles police officer stepped in to help, providing the family a police escort through the flames and through traffic. The family shared some of the trip on video.
The family posted on the 23ABC Facebook page that the boy made it to the hospital and he is now out of surgery and recovering.
The family is trying to get in touch with the LAPD officer to thank them for helping the family through this difficult situation.
