BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In a 4 to 2 vote, the Bakersfield City Council voted yes to adding 'In God We Trust' decals to their police vehicles.
Bakersfield now joins the city of Delano, which currently has the decals on its police vehicles.
This comes after, City Council member Jacquie Sullivan says that her non profit organization, "In God We Trust America," would fund the "In God We Trust" decals for Bakersfield Police patrol vehicles.
Some residents consider the proposal an infringement on the first amendment of separation between church and state.
Shafter's City Council says they should make a decision regarding their stickers in its next meeting on June 18 and Pastor Medlock says he's ready once that decision is made.
