BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield 3 Charity has sent a letter to the Kern County Board of Supervisors calling for the county to search Buena Vista Lake given the lake's history regarding missing persons.

Recently the Bakersfield 3 Charity and the board worked together in order to provide new sonar equipment to the Kern County Sheriff's Office. The board approved a $17,000 donation from the charity to purchase sonar equipment for the Search and Rescue Unit.

In the letter, the charity asks the board to provide search and rescue resources to use the powerful tools to search Buena Vista Lake, including sourcing labor.

The Bakersfield 3 Charity is a group organized by the three mothers of the so-called "Bakersfield 3", a group of missing persons who knew each other and disappeared around the same time.

The mothers of James Kulstad, Micah Holsonbake, Baylee Despot said their mission, "is to bring victims of violent crimes, missing persons, and their families together to build hope and strengthen Kern County through community engagement and victim advocacy."
