Austin Hope Cabernet Sauvignon has been selected by Wine Enthusiast Magazine as #10 of The Enthusiast Top 100 of 2019. This marks the first Paso Robles wine to ever make the top 10, further solidifying this wine as the standard for Paso Robles luxury Cabernet.
In 2018 23ABC featured Austin Hope and Hope Family Wines on our Made in Kern County segment, at the time highlighting the Bakersfield born winemaker producing legendary wines in Paso Robles. In our segment we showcased Hope's 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon which had received 97 pts, an individual rating by Wine Enthusiast Magazine, but this ranking adds Hope's latest release of Cabernet to a more wildly distributed list that appears around the world.
Austin’s passion for wine extends to the entire Paso Robles community. He has dedicated himself to elevating Paso Robles as a premier growing region in the world. “An acknowledgment like this benefits our entire wine community and brings well-deserved attention to the quality and standard we all work so vigorously to achieve” says Austin.
Matt Kettmann of Wine Enthusiast describes the 2017 vintage, noting “This bottling remains as impressive and delicious as it did upon debut two vintages ago. Aromas of black cherry, hickory smoke and vanilla cookie lead into a palate of brown sugar, sea salt, caramel and black-cherry foam, all framed by polished tannins and just enough acidity.” Always striving to push forward with innovation and quality, Austin and the winemaking team are meticulous with their fruit selection -- taking into consideration soil, sun exposure, and precipitation.
This focused effort over the past 20 years has led them to select fruit from 5 sub-AVAs including Adelaida District, Creston District, El Pomar District, Paso Robles Estrella District, and Genseo District. Each of these districts have developed into areas of significance, capturing the diverse characteristics of Paso Robles and contributing to this wine’s quality and success.
