A man is in custody in connection with the death of a man whose body was found in a riverbed in Oildale.

According to Bakersfield Police, 33-year-old Antonio Maldonado was taken into custody Tuesday evening on Monitor Street.

Police say Maldonado was arrested for an unrelated warrant after trying to run from officers. A search warrant allowed detectives to search an apartment where he was staying. Police found evidence linking Maldonado to the death on Aug. 14.

The body of a man was found in the riverbed near Riverview Park just off Chester Avenue.

Maldonado faces murder and robbery charges.
