Area 51 Mania: Alienstock complaint filed in Nevada court

LAS VEGAS — A legal battle appears to be brewing when it comes to the participants and organizers of Alienstock -- an event connected to the viral Storm Area 51 idea.

Connie West, Little A'Le'Inn owner in Rachel, has filed a complaint in Nevada District Court against the group she claims joined her in the making of Alienstock but bailed on the agreement between the parties.

The defendants in the complaint are Mathew Roberts, Frank DiMaggio, Brock Daily, and The Hidden Sound, a company based in Arkansas.

It alleges, among many things, that Roberts and his associates made defamatory statements that Alienstock was canceled.

Event organizers in rural Nevada have said they lost money over the weekend after attendance at their events were far less than expected following confusion over and false reports the events were canceled.

Previously, George Harris of the Alien Research Center in Hiko told 13 Action News, "[Roberts] had no right to go on television and say this is canceled. We spent a lot of money and I'm pretty sure Monday morning he is going to learn what the legal system is all about."

13 Action News has reached out to Harris about any legal filings against Roberts but have not heard back yet.
