Yet another Bakersfield restaurant has been closed due to health code violations. The Panda Wok at 2150 White Lane was closed due to "multi-generational roach activity" on the cook line, as well as "major roach activity" near food preparation areas. Roaches were also found under the soda fountain and in storage cabinets that contained eating utensils and drinking cups.
The closure of the Panda Wok for health code violations is just the latest in a series of closures. This week alone the Tacos La Villa and the King of Siam restaurants were closed.
A 23ABC report found that Over 60 percent of Kern County restaurants that were temporarily closed for health violations in 2019 occurred within the last month.
Two of the last four restaurants that closed were reported by customers to KCPHSD through the Safe Diner app, Corson said. Customer complaints led to further investigations, which ultimately resulted in the closures. The Safe Diner app can be downloaded for both Android and iOS devices.
