KERN COUNTY, Calif. — All football games within the Kern High School District will be delayed by one hour on Friday due to high temperatures.
According to the KHSD's athletics Twitter account, the junior varsity games will start at 6 p.m., with varsity to follow.
Bakersfield Christian High School officials tell 23ABC that their games will also being starting at 6 p.m. Bakersfield Christian is scheduled to play Garces. BCHS officials say expecting the varsity game to begin around 8:30 p.m.
Most high schools will be kicking off their seasons Friday night.
All local KHSD football games are delayed one hour due to expected high temperatures. JV will start at 6:00 PM, Varsity to follow.

Varsity football games typically kickoff around 7 or 7:30 p.m.
Taft Union High School athletic director said that the Kern Valley opener will start at the normal time which is 5 p.m. for JV and about 7:30 p.m. for varsity.
According 23ABC Chief Meteorologist Elaina Rusk, temperatures in Bakersfield at 7 p.m. are expected to be in the mid-90s and in the low 90s at 7:30 p.m.
