KERN COUNTY, Calif. — Are you looking for something to do this weekend? No worries. We have seven things that you can do with the whole family! And be sure to check out our Community Calendar for more events and happenings around the area.

Bakersfield's Prohibition Pub Crawl

It's Friday and to celebrate you can spend your night in the Roaring 20s while hitting up pubs around town. It's time for Bakersfield's Prohibition Pub Crawl. You can meet up with people dressed in twenties' costumes like an old-school gangster or a silent film star. The crawl includes eight locations for food and drinks. Participants with wristbands get drinks specials and no cover charge at all locations, plus contests, games, and prizes. Check-in starts at 5 p.m. at Riley's Tavern. Tickets will not be sold at the door but some are still available online at Do the Crawl.com and they are only $12. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Second Star to the Right, local non-profit helping families battling childhood cancer.

Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce Social - BBQ & Brews

The Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce has partnered with Bakersfield Young Professionals to put on this year's chamber social. The fundraiser runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday night inside the Bakersfield Museum of Art. Attendees will enjoy a laid-back atmosphere and a great meal, barbeque and craft beer, wine and whiskey tasting. The dress code is casual, which is good when it comes to meals involving sauces. There will also be dancing and live music and the whole event gives people the opportunity to interact and connect with other community members.

Beach Bash Family Fun Night

And if you're looking for something fun for the whole family Bakersfield Recreation and Parks may have just what you are looking for. The department is hosting a Beach Bash Family Fun Night Friday night starting at 6 p.m. at the McMurtrey Aquatic Center. Participants will play games, swim, race down water slides and launch off diving boards. There will also be a prize wheel for kids to spin at the Rethink Your Drink and Water Safety booth. The price is $4 per person or $13 for groups of four. Be sure to bring a swimsuit and towel to enjoy the fun.

Find Your Classroom

College campuses can be hard to navigate especially for freshmen rushing around trying to find classes. Bakersfield College is making sure the first day of class is as easy as possible. They're hosting a Find Your Classroom event to take the stress out of the first day. All you have to do is take your class schedule with you to the main campus and head to the Welcome Center in the administration building. From there, helpers will make sure you know where all your classes are. It's happening from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday morning at the main campus on Panorama Drive.

Veterans Job and Resource Fair

The Army and National Guard are bringing a job and resource fair for veterans and active military in Bakersfield. The event happens Saturday at the Kern County Fairgrounds from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Officials say you should dress for success or in uniform and bring plenty of copies of your resume.

Free Admission at National Parks

If you're trying to get away this weekend it may be the perfect time to check out one of our national parks. This weekend the National Park Service is celebrating its 103rd birthday. As a gift free admission is being offered at all national parks this Sunday, August 25th. The deal is available at more than 400 parks across the country but doesn't apply to camping, special tours, boat launches or transportation. If you can't make it this weekend, mark your calendars because there will be free admission on September 28th and November 11th.

City of Lights Painting Event

And finally, head to the Corks & Strokes studio on Friday night for their "City of Lights" painting event. No painting experience or artistic ability necessary. In just about two hours, while you’re hanging out with friends sipping some wine or beer and munching a few snacks, you will be guided through this painting step-by-step. You’ll then take home your own unique masterpiece. Everything you will need for use at the event is provided: canvas, easels, paints, brushes, and even an apron. You just bring your fun attitude, your friends, and your wine/beer/soda. It's $25 per person and you can register online.
