The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has apprehended 30-year-old Stephen Beavers, who had previously walked away from a Bakersfield re-entry facility over the weekend.

Officials were notified on Sunday that Beavers' GPS device had been tampered with, prompting an emergency search.

Agents from CDCR's special service unit located Beavers at a residence near Bakersfield yesterday and he was taken into custody.

He is currently in North Kern State Prison in Delano.

Beavers was admitted in May of 2010, to serve a 6 year sentence for possession of a controlled substance, first-degree burglary and receiving stolen property.
