BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — In the best interest in the health of the public, the Kern County Genealogical Society, is closing the volunteer-led Genealogy Room and canceling upcoming programming through May 3.
It is anticipated that the Genealogy Room and genealogical program will reopen and resume on May 4, 2020.
The Kern County Library’s additional library-sponsored programming will continue as planned, with the exception of the "Visions of Warriors" film screening, which has been postponed.
Canceled programming includes:
“Finding Your Roots” on March 16, 23, and 30; April 6, 13, 20, and 27.
“Genealogy Treasures Tour” on March 16, 23, and 30; April 6, 13, 20, and 27.
“How to Research Your Mexican Ancestry” on March 13, 20, and 27; April 3, 10, 17, and 24.
“What is DNA and What Can DNA Tell You?” on April 2.
“How to Read a Census and Find Your Ancestor” on April 9.
“Using the Census to Learn About Your Family” on March 19 and April 16.
“How DNA Can Help You Find Your Roots” on March 26 and April 23.
“Cluster Research – Who Is Your Fan Club?” on March 17.
“Kern County Mexican Family Photos: Documenting History Through Facebook” on April 14.
