BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Wednesday marked the 100th Anniversary the 19th Amendment was added to the constitution, guaranteeing a women's right to vote.
Here in Bakersfield, Mayor Goh along with Councilmember Jacquie Sullivan commemorated the occasion by lighting City Hall both purple and gold for Women's Equality Day.
The milestone is being commemorated across the nation by hundreds of cities and counties through the lighting of various municipal buildings and landmarks including the state Capitol.
Tonight, the CA State Capitol is lit in purple and gold to honor the women that came before us - the women who fought so hard to ensure our voices could be heard.
