BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire deputy sheriff positions.

KCSO Sgt. Danisha Ashley said they are looking to hire over 100 deputy sheriffs. The initial testing period is comprised of a written test, physical test, and background check. The process can last between 8 to 16 weeks.

There are three ways to apply to the program: as a deputy trainee, as a self-sponsored student, and as a current employee.

Applicants must be 19-years or older, have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and must possess a California Class "C" drivers license.
