BAKERSFIELD, CA. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is looking to hire about 100 detention deputies right now.
The position is one of only two open positions for the county.
"So we are in need of bodies. Anyone who is interested in the law enforcement career that posses the honest, trustworthiness, integrity, and pride of helping themselves and their family but also their community," said Sergeant Mallory Serjeant.
The detention deputy lateral position is open to anyone who has received their certification, even if it is outside of KCSO's training academy.
“Basic requirements are minimum 18 years of age, possession of a valid Class C License and an STC Core Certification. That will get them into the facility, training will be in the first year they're here," said Sergeant Mallory Serjeant.
If you are interested in becoming a detention deputy, KCSO plans to hold a training in mid-summer.
