Companies hiring during pandemic

BAKERSFIELD, CA. — Millions of people in the United States lost their jobs or has their hours cut short in the midst of the Coronavirus outbreak.

According to MarketWatch, the pandemic has also cause an increase in critical services and products.

Amazon, the e-commerce giant, posted on its company blog that they are looking to hire 100,000 new roles to support people during this time.

In the past week, Amazon posted over 40 positions for the local fulfillment center set to open this year.

Walmart is also looking to hire about 150,000 new employees through the end of May.

In the past week, Walmart posted over 30 positions for positions in Bakersfield, Tehachapi, Shafter, and Delano.

Grocery stores have seen an influx of customers on a day to day basis.

Local stores like WinCo, Albertsons, Vons, and Sprouts have posted positions in the past week for immediate hire as cashiers, stock, and drivers.
