UPDATE:

On Sunday afternoon, a neighborhood in Oildale off Beardsley Avenue was the scene of an officer-involved shooting with the Kern County Sheriff's office.

"Currently, the investigation is active and ongoing," Lori Meza said.

Meza is the public information officer with KCSO. She confirmed to me that deputies were notified of a domestic violence situation in the neighborhood along Beardsley Ave... west of North Chester, just after 1:00 p.m.

"Arrived on scene. There was an armed suspect who was involved with the domestic violence incident in the front yard," Meza said.

Meza said at this point, the officer-involved shooting took place when deputies contacted the unidentified man.

She said the suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.

Meza told me it appeared only one deputy fired their weapon, and no one else was injured.

"With officer-involved shootings, there's a lot of information that needs to be collected, a lot of interviews that need to be done," Meza said. "We will piece together the whole story and release it when we have that information for the public."

Meza also confirmed that multiple weapons were found at the home.
