ELECTION UPDATE: U.S. House of Representatives 21st District race

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — With nearly 94% of precincts partially reporting, challenger David Valadao has taken a small lead over incumbent T.J. Cox for the U.S. House of Representatives 21st District race.

According to the state, Republican Valadao has received 55,970 votes from the 21st District while Democratic Cox received 53,060.

The Kern County Elections Office still in the midst of reporting all the votes casts for this race is reporting that with 87% of precincts reporting, Cox is pulling ahead for Kern voters.

According to the Kern County Elections Office, Cox has 16,551 votes and Valadao has received 10,091.

The district includes parts of Bakersfield, Arvin, and extends to Fresno County.
