A local family said their world was shattered after a domestic violence situation left two people dead and a newborn fighting for his life.

Investigators say it began Sunday night around 8:30 on Florence Street near Parish Avenue in Weedpatch. KCSO deputies say 34-year-old Audreyanna Diana Rivera, who was seven months pregnant, got into an argument with her on-and-off boyfriend Javier Vidal. Officials say that's when Vidal shot Rivera and took off with their two-year-old son Elias Vidal.

An Amber Alert was issued and Elias was found around 11 p.m.

Deputies found Vidal on Taft Highway near Wible Road about a half-hour later. He reportedly fired at deputies and deputies fired back.

Vidal was pronounced dead early Monday morning. No law enforcement officers were injured.

Family members are asking residents to keep the newborn in your thoughts.

"I never ever thought he would do this. I never thought he would pull a gun and kill her and leave her like that. When I found her I didn't think... it just shocked me that I seen her like that. She's the mother of his kids," said Rivera's mother Patty Flores.

Rivera leaves behind four children including the newborn.

Family says there is a picture of the newborn floating around on social media and out of respect they are asking anyone who has posted it to take it down.
