BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The man shot by Bakersfield police officers following an alleged carjacking Wednesday night has been identified as 30-year-old Juan Ramirez III.

According to BPD, Ramirez remains in custody at an area hospital and will be booked into the Kern County Jail once medically cleared.

The Bakersfield Police Department says officers shot a man, following a pursuit and attempted carjacking Wednesday night.

According to BPD, officers were involved in a pursuit after they attempted to pull over a car.

Police say the vehicle the suspect was driving was stolen.
