Kern County Sheriff's Office investigating shooting death in Oildale

UPDATE (10:26 a.m.): The Kern County Sheriff's Office has released new information regarding heavy police presence in Oildale on Mon, June 5.

According to the KCSO, deputies were sent to the 200 block of Decatur Street after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a man who had been shot. He died at the scene.

Following an investigation, deputies determined that the shooting suspect had possibly gone upstairs to the second floor of the building where the shooting took place. A SWAT team was called and the building was cleared.

This is an ongoing investigation.
