BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — UPDATE: The Bakersfield Police Department said two people were injured in a car-to-car shooting Tuesday afternoon in Downtown Bakersfield.
BPD said officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly after 12:30 p.m. Officers found multiple bullet casings in the roadway, according to BPD.
Traffic was affected while officers investigated the shooting.
A woman and a 15-year-old boy were taken to a hospital with gunshot injuries and are in stable condition, said BPD.
A preliminary investigation determined that the victims were shot while in their vehicle by suspects firing gunshots from a separate moving vehicle, said police. Police said the 15-yea-old boy appears to have been targeted by the suspects.
Police said the investigation in its preliminary stages and no public suspect information is available at this time.
