BPD arrests Fresno resident in connection to human trafficking case in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Bakersfield Police Department arrested Javonna Lewis, of Fresno, in connection to a human trafficking case involving a 17-year-old in Bakersfield.

According to BPD, on December 23, 2020, BPD officers were alerted to the possible human trafficking of a 17-year old victim within the City of Bakersfield. The victim was safely recovered and has been reunited with family members.

Detectives were able to identify the suspect and obtained a warrant for her arrest.

BPD said on Friday, officers teamed up with the Fresno Multi-Agency Gang Enforcement Consortium to arrested 22-year-old Javonna Lewis. She was booked into Kern County Jail for torture, kidnapping, human trafficking with force, human trafficking of a minor, pandering of a minor, and penetration with a foreign object with force.
