BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The man killed by police following a stabbing and carjacking Monday has been identified as Everardo Gonzalez Santana, 65, of Bakersfield.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Santana allegedly stabbed two people in the area of Watts Drive and Lotus Lane. He went on to carjack another victim who received minor injuries.

The officers learned that the suspect had two knives.

Santana allegedly drove off and crashed into another vehicle in the area of T Street and Brundage Lane before taking off again. Officers were able to locate him in the area of P Street and Brundage, after which an officer-involved shooting took place.

Santana was taken to a local hospital with major injuries where he later died, according to BPD.
