BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened in South Bakersfield Wednesday evening.
According to BPD officials, officers received a call from Mercy Hospital downtown around 7:30 p.m. for reports of two gunshot victims who showed up at the hospital.
As officers were investigating they responded to a vehicle crash near Truxtun Ave. & Oak St.
The investigation is still underway, but officials say they believe a vehicle involved in the crash may have been related to the shooting in some way.
Police believe the shooting happened outside of Valley Plaza Mall and officers are working to locate a crime scene.
One person had major injuries from the shooting, the other person had minor injuries.
No suspect information has been released at this time. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call BPD at 327-7111.
