BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act helps ensure advance notice in cases of qualified plant closings and mass layoffs.

The U.S. Department of Labor has compliance assistance materials to help workers and employers understand their rights and responsibilities under the provisions of WARN.

Today WARN letters were released to various businesses here in Bakersfield.

The following letters were sent out:

  • Levy's at Mammoth Mountain Ski resort - outlining that as of today the business will be closed temporarily, no employees will be terminated but they will experience either a reduction of hours, or a temporary suspension.
  • Bill Wright Toyota, North Bakersfield Toyota and Bill Wright Scion Toyota - outlining they will layoff 50 or more employees effective March 31
