DELANO, Calif. — World Center Kitchen and the United Farm Workers partnered up to deliver more than 4,000 prepared meals to farm worker families suffering during the COVID-19 crisis on Wednesday.
The meals, handed to motorists as their cars drive by at the farm worker movement's Forty Acres property, were prepared by local restaurants.
This is the third time the groups have been able to distribute meals to farmworkers in Delano. The UFW said it plans to provide prepared meals at least once a week in Delano and in each of the farm worker communities served through this partnership.
Since its founding, World Central Kitchen has served more than 17 million meals to those impacted by natural disasters and other crises around the world, including the coronavirus global pandemic, according to the UFW.
