BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Kern County Latino COVID-`19 Task Force announcing a new program to help local senior citizens and those who don't speak English.

The task force announcing the launch of "Project Abuelita," which is Spanish for grandmother.

The service provide free volunteers to help senior citizens, and non-English speakers schedule appointments for covid tests and vaccinations.

"Project Abuelita" is available in English and Spanish Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's set to run through June.
