The USDA Forest Service has announced that the Sequoia National Forest Recreation sites will remain closed on the Kern River Ranger District until May 21. The closures are expected to protect public and employee health and safety, along with the protection of natural and cultural resources.
According to the USDA Forest Service, most recreation sites will be closed until late November.
The orders the from agency do not close trails, trailheads, and general forest areas. Those will stay open for the public.
In the meantime park officials ask the public to practice social distancing, to not gather in groups, and to share the trail.
