The Kern County Public Health Department announced there are currently 11 confirmed cases of coronavirus in Kern County and the department can finally share the geographical locations where the positive tests occurred.
According to public health, the county needed at least five confirmed cases to release the geographical locations of positive tests.
Public health said there was one positive test in Valley region, 8 in West Bakersfield, and 2 in East Bakersfield. The 11 confirmed cases does not include the non-resident who tested positive while visiting the county.
Michelle Corson, spokesperson for public health, also said they believe there has been community transmission in the county. Corson also said at this time they will still not be releasing any identifying information about the confirmed patients, including age ranges.
