BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Omni Family Health is working around the clock to allow patients the ability to speak directly with a medical provider from the comfort and safety of their home.

"We know our patients cannot and should not leave their homes during this crisis; however, patients still need and want to speak to their doctors," said Dr. Grace Tidwell, Associate Medical Director. "In response, Omni began offering telephone medical and mental health visits last week, and so far our patients are loving this option."

A telehealth appointment can be made to ask a medical question, have a prescription re-filled or speak to a mental health provider about concerns one may be experiencing during this unprecedented time.

Before coming to a health center, Omni asks patients to call 1-800-300-OMNI (6664) to be evaluated for an in-person visit or a telehealth appointment. Currently, patients can schedule telehealth appointments with providers during daytime, evening and weekend hours.

To further ensure the health and safety of Omni's providers, staff and patients, the organization has also stationed new Wellness Greeters at the entrance to most health centers. These Greeters welcome our patients and quickly access their medical needs. If they are running a fever or meet any of the other criteria for COVID-19, Omni will direct them appropriately for further evaluation and possible testing away from other patients to limit exposure to the virus.

A patient may also call the coronavirus hotline at (661) 336-4585 if they would like to speak directly to a healthcare provider about possible symptoms or testing. Omni Family Health also has dedicated COVID testing facilities, by appointment only.
