DELANO, Calif. — The first mobile testing site for farm workers was accessible in Delano Tuesday.

On Monday morning, Kern County Supervisor David Couch announced a partnership with the California Farmworkers Foundation and the Good Samaritan Hospital to provide mobile testing for farm workers around Kern County.

The California Farmers Foundation was there to help with the process and explained why it is so important for Kern County farmers to have access to this testing.

"It's extremely difficult going through the state's website,” said Hernan Hernandez, California Farmers Foundation Executive Director. “You have to know English and you have to have an email, farm workers don't know the language, they don't have an email, they don't have wifi, some don't even have smartphones.”

The testing is done the same way at other testing centers and the process is open enrollment.

“Programs and initiatives like we have here today the whole goal is to bridge the gap,” Hernandez said.
