BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Members of the Service Employees International Union Local 521 are set to hold a virtual press conference Tuesday afternoon to highlight essential efforts and urge for workplace safety measures as the state plans to re-open.
On the call, workers represented by SEIU 521, including workers from the Kern County Sheriff's Department, Child Support Services, and Behavioral Health and Human Services, will share their experiences and challenges during the shelter-in-place order.
SEIU is also urging the County to address worker safety in the newly proposed re-opening taskforce announced last week by the Board of Supervisors.
The press conference is happening Tuesday at 1 p.m. and will be live via Zoom.
