BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — M&D barbershop like many other shops in the area has moved operations outside to keep business going.

Now, that all could change.

On Friday Governor Gavin Newsom announced that certain entities could reopen indoor operations, but with certain guidelines.

"I can’t wait to be able to operate inside with my mother again," said Eren Norman, a barber for M&D's Barbershop.

Mother and Daughter's barbershop, better known as M&D's barbershop, is located off of Stockdale Highway and Allen Road.

The shop has been in operation since 1999. Due to the pandemic, they have been cutting hair outside for the past month.

Since I have been outdoors, I love it but the heat can bud in, so can the bees, flies, and everything else," Norman said. Everyone I have cut it's been a great time, it's been epic and historical."

The governor says that hair salons and barbershops can reopen by following particular guidelines.

Some of the protocols include the following.

1.) Requiring the use of face coverings of all employees.

2.) Shop owners must provide the necessary protective equipment such as face shields and gloves.

3. )All must follow the disinfecting protocols listed.
