BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Lerdo Jail is working with public health and Kern Medical to maintain the safety of their inmates and staff.
Lerdo confirms they are taking the inmates' temperatures and making sure they are wearing face masks on intake.
When ask about protection measures taken by Lerdo Detention Facilities, Lerdo issued the following statement:
"We are working with Public Health and Kern Medical to follow the best practices for staff and inmates. When we take an inmate to be booked at Central Receiving Facility they are wearing a mask, and stop at a nursing station before entering the facility. They have their temperatures taken, and a series of questions. If they did have a temperature, they would be redirected to Kern Medical. At all our detention facilities we are taking staff temperatures before then enter for work. They are given PPE, and follow the CDC and local Public Health Department guidelines on when is the appropriate time to wear it. "
When asked if there were any COVID-19 cases at the facility, Lerdo issued this statement:
"You would need to ask Public Health if there have been any cases, as they are in charge of public releases on COVID-19 and we would not violate HIPPA."
Lerdo recommended we speak with Public Health concerning any COVID-19 cases at the facility, they neither confirmed or denied, citing they can't release that information at this time.
