BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — During the COVID-19 school closures in Kern County, the Kern County Superintendent of Schools Nutrition Services Department will provide families with the opportunity to pick up meals for their children at no cost.

Beginning Wednesday, lunch will be provided, along with breakfast for the next day, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the locations listed below. Children 18 and under must be present to receive their meal.

Meal service is “Grab N Go” and may not be consumed on the premises. Service line options will include a drive-thru and a pick-up table for those families walking to the campus.

When going through the drive-thru, families must remain in their vehicles. Meals for the children will be distributed based on the number of children in the vehicle.

KCSOS school sites open for meal pick-up during school closures are as follows:

Aurora School, 7900 Niles St.
Richardson Center, 1515 Feliz Drive
Kern Community School 222 34th St.
North Kern Community School, 1915 Cecil Ave.
Kelly F. Blanton Ed. Center, 300 E. Truxtun Ave.

In addition to the locations at KCSOS sites, all Kern County children 18 years and younger are encouraged to look at their local school district’s webpage for specific locations and times within their school district. If participation numbers at a school site are too low to support being opened, school sites may be consolidated during the closure.
