Holiday COVID-19 guidelines released for long-term health care facilities

As you consider making plans for your family there's guidance from the state for long-term care facilities.

The agency for healthcare administration releasing this document providing more clarity for long term care facilities. It explains residents can leave facilities including for holiday visits. They must temporarily wear a mask and families should be informed of precautions to take. And all residents will be screened when they go back including assessing potential exposure.

"It's not going to be like a normal Christmas. It's not for all of us. So take that expectation out of your mind and adjust to it. The good news is we get to have them home," said Mary Daniel, founder of Caregivers for Compromise.

Daniel, who founded the group Caregivers for Compromise, is planning on bringing her husband home for Christmas Eve but she's emphasizing to take this seriously.
