Costco is making some changes to its policies starting Monday. Store hours will be back to normal but all shoppers will now be required to wear a mask.

On its website, the company says all shoppers must wear a mask that covers the mouth and nose at all times in the store. Costco says it has made changes based on public health guidelines, including requiring face coverings, using reusable shopping bags, and putting restrictions on returns.

"Costco employees are required to wear face coverings, and now we are asking that Costco members do so too. We know some members may find this inconvenient or objectionable, but under the circumstances, we believe the added safety is worth any inconvenience. This is not simply a matter of personal choice; a face-covering protects not just the wearer, but others too," said CEO Craig Jelinek in a statement. "In short, we believe this is the right thing to do under the current circumstances. Although some may disagree with this policy or question its effectiveness, we’re choosing to err on the side of safety in our shopping environments."

Costco is also limiting meat purchases per customer. It will limit beef, pork and poultry products to three items per member.

The store will continue offering senior hours from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday.
