BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Pfizer vaccine has arrived in Kern County.
According to Kern Medical, Adventist Health Bakersfield and Dignity Health Mercy Hospitals of Bakersfield, the vaccine shipment arrived Thursday morning.
Dignity Health said it will begin a soft launch of vaccinating staff Thursday afternoon. Kern Medical said it will begin its first vaccinations Thursday at noon.
The first shipments of the Pfizer vaccine left Michigan early Sunday for 145 distribution centers nationwide. California’s initial batch was scheduled to total 325,000 doses.
This arrival comes the same day that an FDA panel will meet to vote on whether to recommend Emergency Use Authorization to a COVID-19 vaccine made by Moderna.
