DELANO, Calif. — On Thursday, the City Council of Delano has issued an ordinance prohibiting evictions of residential tenants due to income loss or medical expenses associated with the COVID-19 outbreak.

Gov. Newsom recently issued an executive order that authorizes jurisdictions to suspend the evictions of tenants for non-payment of rent if its due to the coronavirus.

Without this protection evictions of tenants could lead to long term permanent displacement.

The ordinance is in effect until the executive order terminates, or the City County of Delano declares an end to the local emergency.
