BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The California Department of Education announced in a press release on Friday that they have created a task force to facilitate technology donations and resources for disadvantaged students. The task force has been named the "Closing the Digital Divide Task Force."
The COVID-19 outbreak has exposed the lack of access to technology and internet service for millions of students who are economically disadvantaged or living in rural communities.
They are holding a fact-finding session with chief executives of Internet Service Provider companies to address the technology gaps that exist for students who lack access to resources such as internet connectivity and devices. That session will be held on Monday, April 20 at 4 p.m. You can watch it on Facebook.
