BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Walmart and SNAP are teaming up to provide online purchasing of food to SNAP households in the state.

Through the new SNAP Online Pilot Program, eligible food may be purchased with SNAP benefits and will be available for pickup or delivery. That applies to all 145 Walmart stores where pickup and/or delivery is available in California.

Customers can place their grocery order online with Walmart and transact using their EBT benefit card for payment at the time of pickup.

California’s SNAP participation is over 4 million individuals, more than 2.2 million households, and totals more than $6 billion annually in federal funding.
