BAKERSFEILD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department said it is teaming up with Trans-West Security to conduct courtesy checks on local businesses.

According to a video posted Thursday by BPD, these checks are meant to assist businesses and better secure them against burglaries. Officers will leave a courtesy check card for the business with suggestions on how to improve security.

The cards outline things such as unlocked doors, open/broken windows, broken/out lights, or windows covered by bushes or trees.

BPD would like the public to know that if you see one of these cards on your business, it is not a ticket. For more information or if you would like a free Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design inspection, call (661) 326-3053.
