Bakersfield Police Department investigates price gouging

The Bakersfield Police Department is addressing potential scams and unethical practices that are occurring over the coronavirus pandemic.

The department says it would like to remind the community that grocery stores are still open and being re-stocked regularly.

BPD says there is no expected interruption to the local supply chain of food and household goods and no shortage of supplies nationwide.

But officials say some people are looking to prey on people's fears and profit during this time of uncertainty. Price gouging can be reported to BPD online or by calling the DA's office at 868-2340.
