Graduation for the class of 2020 is unlike any graduation in recent years, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. With social distancing guidelines in place, many students will not have the usual experience of walking across a stage and accepting a diploma.
To honor and celebrate it's graduating class, South High School created a video graduation ceremony, following many of the same traditions.
The virtual graduation ceremony featured speeches from the senior class president, ASB president, principal and staff members.
The ceremony even included the conferring of diplomas, with multiple voices announcing every students name and featuring a photo.
The video is nearly an hour and a half long.
Last week the Kern High School District approved unanimously a motion to allow physical graduation ceremonies. KHSD board members said they would hold graduation ceremonies until a governmental agency says otherwise.
According to the schedule released by the district on Friday, South High School has planned a ceremony for June 24 South High Stadium
