The City of Arvin is getting recognized for its achievements in fighting climate change. It received the beacon Spotlight Award by the Institute for Local Governments to recognize their efforts to create a more sustainable community.

The city has implemented a number of environmental programs such as a partnership with California Relief and the Dolores Huerta Foundation to provide free shade trees to residents.

The city has also partnered with the Arvin Union School District for its Keep California Beautiful Program that encourages recycling in schools.
